Dates: April to August

Location: Boomland, Idanha-a-Nova lake, Portugal

Purpose of the position

Boom Festival 2018 is currently seeking  experienced and highly-skilled riggers to join our hardworking team. In this position, you will demonstrate your experience and expertise alongside others who take the profession seriously and are committed to a safe work environment. You will ensure that all  rigging cables and equipments are lifted and set properly, demonstrating consistent commitment to safety at all times. You will work as part of the team, ensuring our operation runs smoothly and within the schedule. To be part of our rigging team is to be a key member in the creation of the Boom Festival 2018 vision.

Responsibilities & duties

  • Attach and detach rigging cables properly
  • Communicate with all team members effectively
  • Ensure that you are in compliance with all safety rules and regulations
  • Monitor and maintain all rigging equipment to ensure safety
  • Report all safety concerns/issues to management immediately
  • Safely and properly attach and utilize all pulley and block systems using suspension and specialised lifting apparatus to include winches, pulleys and hoists
  • Set up and break down necessary equipment
  • Assemble the rigging design according to the aprouved plan
  • Properly select gear for the job
  • Maneuver loads through difficult and confined spaces
  • Work cooperatively with the building team to meet requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • NCCCO certified Level 1, minimum (preferable)
  • Significant work experience as a rigger, 2+ years minimum
  • Up to date with security and hygiene regulations, and willing to comply with all  safety standards
  • Familiar with all necessary safety equipment
  • Solid working knowledge of all rigging equipment and tools
  • Able to inspect rigging equipment to ensure it is in good working order
  • Solid math skills for calculating load requirements
  • Physically capable of working in demanding conditions
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, work on your feet and lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Excellent vision and hearing
  • Not afraid of heights or climbing ladders, scaffolding, etc.
  • Good English communication skills
  • Bilingual is a plus
